Are you thinking of starting your own business? Do you have a great product / service that you are thinking about bringing to the marketplace? If so, then you should follow the tips below for starting a business – these will establish some solid practises and give you ideas about how to drive your business forward:

Work on Something you are Passionate About - work takes up a considerable portion of our time and so therefore has a considerable influence on our state of well-being and happiness. It is fair to say that if you are miserable in a job this will also adversely affect other areas of your life. Thankfully the opposite is true. If you are starting a business venture ensure to chose a subject you are genuinely passionate about. This will ensure your drive to succeed does not waiver over time and you will put 100% effort into your work. The odds on your business succeeding are ten fold when you work on something you are passionate about. Furthermore, this will have a positive influence on all other areas of your life.

Know your Budget and Keep Spending Under Control - know precisely how much of a budget you are working with and also have a good knowledge of your likely costs. You should try to avoid all non-necessary spending until you have established an income. While you will encounter unavoidable spending, avoid frivolous spending completely. Not only will this greatly improve the chances of your business succeeding but will also lower the risks and consequences should your business fail, or take longer than expected to get established.

Research your Market - there is absolutely no point in creating a product or service that there is no demand for. If you have a product or service in mind for your business complete thorough research of the intended market. Research the Internet, analyse competitors, get advice from experts in the field and leave no stone unturned in your research. If you decide that the demand for your product or service is poor then you have saved yourself a lot of time, money, effort and heartache further down the line. If you divide that the demand is good then you can proceed with your business plan with renewed vigour, happy in the knowledge that your business has a fighting chance.

Do Not Overextend Yourself - the is a great old say that goes something like, “you can please some of the people some of the time, more of the people more of the time, but can never please all of the people all of the time”. No matter how great the level of expertise and effort you will not appeal to or please everyone. Focus your efforts on your target market and existing customers / subscribers etc. For example, if you are a computer technician with expertise in computer software – instead of attempting to cover all areas of computing, focus purely on the computer software niche and gain a solid reputation in this area.

Learn from Mistakes – the man who never made a mistake never made anything. You are going to make mistakes – the success of your business will depend on how you react to these mistakes and the lessons you learn from them. At the end of each working week set aside some time to analyse what you have done well in the previous week, what has worked well, what has not worked well, what you could do differently, how you could improve etc. Try to foresee the challenges you will face in the coming week and identify how you intend to deal with them.

Develop a Detailed Contingency Plan – all businesses go through rough periods and unavoidable expense can pop up at any time. Try to forecast potential risks to your business such as currency fluctuations, legislation changes etc. Develop a thorough and detailed contingency plan to lower the risks to your business and lower the impact of threats. Above all, always keep an eye open for signs of trouble and always react early to warning signs.

Develop a Marketing Plan - a this point you now know your niche and target market. The next step is to develop a marketing plan that will convince existing customers to buy more from you and entice new customers to your business. An effective marketing plan will keep your business in the forefront of customers minds and keep them updated of your latest products / services, special offers, sales etc.

The decision to venture into a new business is one of the biggest decisions you will make in your life. By now you have already weighed up the risks and benefits and decided to venture forward. I hope by reading these handy tips some important areas and issues have been highlighted to you and you are now in a better place going forward.

Good luck! Let me know how you get on!

Finding DoFollow Blogs Easily - guide to finding dofollow comment blogs for your website. Used to link back to your website to improve competitiveness and improve your ranking in SERPs.

So by now we know the vital role link building plays in determining how high (or low) your website appears in search engine results pages. A popular link building method is to post comments on blogs that allow a link back to your website. However, not all links on blogs are worthwhile and can be split down into two categories:

The “nofollow” Attribute – when the nofollow value is added to the rel tag of a link it is advising search engines that the link has not been explicitly approved and therefore should not be followed. The HTML format of the link is as follows: <a href=”http://www.myadsenseguide.com” rel=”nofollow”>My AdSense Guide</a> – it is important you can recognise these links when you see them.

The “dofollow” Attribute – when the dofollow value is added to the rel tag of a link it is advising search engines that the link is trusted by your website. dofollow blog links help promote a website and help build the reputation of the website. The default rel value is dofollow so therefore if the tag is not specifically valued as nofollow it is considered dofollow by all search engines.

So now to the key piece of this article – how to find dofollow blogs and get vital links to your website. FireFox have a tidy plugin called “NoDofollow” and is available for free download @ NoDoFollow Plugin. This is a simple plugin that highlights links in a page that have been explicitly set to nofollow.

Once this plugin has been successfully installed we need to find specific blogs using Google that are in the same field of expertise as your website. To find such blogs type the following simple search into Google:

blog keyword (keyword is your field of expertise) notify me when new comments

So for example I am running a football blog I would execute the following search:

blog football notify me when new comments

This will return a complete list of football blogs that allow comments to be added. We are half way there, now we need to weed out the nofollow blogs. This is where the “NoDofollow” FireFox plugin comes into play. When you open each blog in the search engine results page the plugin will identify which blogs you should comment on and which you are wasting your time with. This is highlighted as follows:

Red Links – this is a nofollow blog. You are wasting your time adding a comment / link here. Move on.

Blue Links – dofollow link – ensure to post a comment here. Ensure the comment is worthwhile to ensure the webmaster will allow your comment to be published.

You should now have found a good list of dofollow blogs. The final check to ensure completeness is to ensure the blog is active i.e the article you are commenting on is no older than six months and has also been commented on recently.

You are now well on your way to building hundreds of worthwhile links and improving the competitiveness of your website. Good work!

Yahoo Answers For Free Traffic And Content - learn how to gain free content from Yahoo Answers and drive traffic to your website or blog.

I posted about using Yahoo Answers for free niche content in a previous post but didn’t go into much detail.

As you’ll probably already know, Yahoo Answers is a community site where people ask and answer questions. The site itself is very popular, has a Google Page Rank of 7 and pages are featured in the yahoo search engine.

Although many people have found the quality of answers in Yahoo to be lower than other sites, I still use it for free content and traffic. Before I show you my method, here’s a comment from alexa reviews on Yahoo Answers that I found amusing:

“I’ve been to a lot of QA sites, and this one is by far the worst. It’s mostly comprised of teenagers engaging in popularity contests, and people that hate everything that moves besides themselves, harassing everyone they can. You will seldom find a serious question here, and you will even more seldom find a serious answer to a serious question. It seems most folks are there to make points, not answer questions. On the up side, the format is good, and the interface is easy to get a grasp on, but with all of that ease, there are no serious questions to be found.”

Despite the above comment, there ARE some good answers on the site (for example, Health related topics). Getting content from Yahoo Answers is easy. Just search for the niche you want info on then copy and paste the best answer to edit and place on your site. Simple.

You can also use your site to get targetted traffic from Yahoo Answers because getting your link on there is also pretty easy. There are two ways to do this, the first way is to search and answer questions by other people and the other is to make 2 accounts and ask and answer your own question.

If you are searching for other people’s questions, you’ll need to use the advanced search feature to search for open questions because you will not be able to post on resolved ones.

However, some naughty people open 2 accounts to answer their own questions. The reason for this is that when someone searches for your keyword on yahoo answers, your answer will be on the first page of results which means more traffic.

These people would:

Make 2 accounts Yahoo Accounts

Ask a question (and sure their keyword is in their title and body)

Answer their own question with an in-depth and relevant answer

Include their link as the source

Wait 24hrs then choose their own answer as the best answer.

Quick Indexing, High PR Backlinks And Traffic - there’s actually a quick and easy way to get your new blog / websites indexed into search engines with high PR backlinks which will generate you an abundance of free web traffic.

There’s actually a quick and easy way to get your new blog / websites indexed into search engines with high PR backlinks which will generate you an abundance of free web traffic.
I’m not talking about “social bookmarking” or “Tag and Ping” (although they are also effective). This method is simple and if you’re not already doing it, you should be.

Writing articles is a free method of generating hundreds of backlinks to your site which will get your new site indexed into all search engines super-fast. All you need to do is write a good quality article and then put a link to your site in the author’s resource box.

After you submit your articles to article directories, publishers will begin picking up your article and start publishing them on their site (with your link). Their visitors will see your link and go to your site. You’ll get a ton of free traffic and make some money in the process (adsense and affiliate products?).

I’ve been writing and submitting articles for new sites and the results have been great. My sites get indexed quickly and I get some good traffic which allows to dominate low competition niches

Here are my tips for article writing:

Write quality content related to your site

Make sure your article has a good headline and include keyword in headline

Include 2 links to your site in the author’s resource box

The first link should be linked with anchor text that you are trying to rank for in search engines. For example, You have a flower arranging site, so you’re first anchor link text should be “flower arranging” because this is what people will type into search engines to find your site.

Your second link should be your website address. The reason for this is because anchor text variation is good for SEO as it makes your links look more natural.

Your author’s resource box could look something like:

“To learn more about Flower Arranging (link this text), visit John Smiths site: http://www.FlowerArrangingTips.com “

The only disadvantage of submitting articles is that after you’ve written them, you have to go to article directories and submit them all individually. Some people would rather avoid this monotonous task (me too).

The way I submit articles is by using an article distribution service. Article Marketer is an article distribution service that will distribute your articles automatically to over 42,087 people in 528 article announcement directories and forums. All I do is write and submit my article once!

Take Action And Control Your Future - reading and learning about Internet Marketing is helpful, however, an often overlooked part of marketing is action. If you do not take action, you won’t get anywhere with Internet Marketing.

Reading and learning about Internet Marketing is helpful, however, an often overlooked part of marketing is action. If you do not take action, you won’t get anywhere with Internet Marketing.

You must take action now, if you are not already doing so. Don’t be afraid of failure and do something that could contribute to your streams of income today!

Even if you have a full time job, I’m sure you can find just one hour per day to contribute to your Internet Marketing. These hours will mount up and you’ll have a successful venture before you know it (whether it be an AdSense site, Affiliate landing pages, or anything else).

I currently do around 3 hours of Internet marketing per day. However, 2 of those hours are spent checking stats, payments and replying to emails. I actually only spend 1 hour per day doing solid Internet Marketing work. Here’s an example of what you could do in one week using just one hour each day:

Day 1: Find And Research A Niche
Finding profitable niches shouldn’t take you that long. There are many ways to do this depending on the method you want to monetise a niche (whether it be AdSense, selling ebooks through PPC, etc). If my aim was to build an AdSense site then I’d look for content that was already available on the Internet. I’d find and make a list of potential niches and do some research into each niche, analysing things such as search volume and competition to determine which niche would be easiest to break into.

Day 2: Go To Blogger And Make A Blog (with AdSense and /or affiliate links)
We’re going to dive straight into a niche blog using the quickest and cheapest method. On day 2, I’d go to blogger and set up a blog. I’d use one of their pre-made templates and add AdSense onto the blog and possibly an affiliate banner/link. The blog would have the niche keyword in the address, title, headings and body of the text. I’d make a first post detailing what the blog is going to be about and ping it via Pingoat.

Day 3: Making Another Post And Tracking Traffic
I’d make another post to the blog and ping it. Then I’d head over to StatCounter to get a free traffic counter and add it to my blog. We’ll need this to analyse where our traffic is coming from and what keywords they are using to arrive at our sites.

Day 4: Write And Distribute An Article (automatic distribution?)
We’ve now got our blog set up but it may not be indexed into search engines yet. I’d grab one of our previous blog posts on our niche blog, rewrite and expand on it to submit to article directories. Again, I’d make another post to our blog and ping it.

Day 5: Social Bookmarking sites
Now that we’ve got some content on our sites, it’s time to get some traffic and links. The quickest way to get links is by using social bookmarking sites such as furl, spurl and blogmarks. Post content and ping your blog again.

Day 6: Adding An Opt-In box
You should be seeing a trickle of traffic to your sites now (look at statcounter) and you should have made some money via AdSense or affiliate links. At the very least, you should have one AdSense click. The next step, is to add an opt-in box onto your blog. This will allow you to “keep” your traffic so that you can send them to any page or affiliate link on demand. Just add one autoresponder message saying “Thanks for signing up” or something similar and include a link back to your blog.

Day 7: Adding More Autoresponder Messages
I’d add about 5 more messages to my autoresponder directing people to new and previous blog posts. I’d also review an ebook and include the affiliate link in one of the messages. This will recycle your traffic and increase your earnings from each signup.

The steps above should only take one hour each day. As you can see, these hours mount up and within a week you’d have your own automatic money-machine. The above is just a quick example of what one hour per day can achieve…..take action now!

Select a Good Hosting Partner - a good quality hosting partner will provide sufficient resources to provide all users with suitable web space, bandwidth, reliability, security, technical support and the latest available technologies.

A good quality hosting partner will provide sufficient resources to provide all users with suitable web space, bandwidth, reliability, security, technical support and the latest available technologies. A poor quality hosting partner will offer a cheap rate to entice you to sign up with them and will then proceed to cram as many websites as possible onto each single server and not provide sufficient equipment and technical expertise. This results in constant reliability and performance issues.

Geographic targeting is also a key element when choosing your hosting partner as the location of your hosting partner is a vital clue used by the major search engines to determine the target market of your website. If the target market of a website is the United States then it is of critical importance that the website is hosted in the United States. Similarly if the target market is India then the website must be hosted in India.

Another important aspect is the IP address of your website and more importantly, if there are other websites sharing your IP address that have been blacklisted by the major search engines they could also have a negative impact on how your website will be viewed. A dedicated hosting plan can be expensive and only necessary for a hugely successful website. However, a dedicated IP address on your shared hosting account can be an effective tool for you to convince the search engines of your website’s validity and character.

Finally consider the technologies supported by your hosting partner and the website building tools they will provide you with. As standard you can expect to be provided with access to the latest versions of PHP, MySQL databases, FTP clients, blogging software, ecommerce solutions, .htaccess access and visitor statistics as a minimum. If these technologies are not available then you should consider searching for alternative hosting partner that will provide better value services for your money.

The bottom line is that selecting a reputable hosting partner should amount to more than a comparison of prices and selection of the cheapest option. Consult with business acquaintances to find reputable hosting companies and consult local technology forums for further insight.

When speaking with perspective hosting partners ask lots of questions such as the technology they support, well known websites they already host, what level of support they provide as standard. While researching a couple of different hosting options can be time consuming it is a worthwhile exercise and will ensure you get your website implementation and promotion off to the best possible start.

Your choice of domain name cannot be overstated and is one of the most essential elements of building a successful website and managing a successful SEO campaign. By choosing the right domain you are automatically creating company and brand awareness online and boosting the likelihood of remembrance amongst your online visitors. Elements to consider when choosing your domain name:

Unique Domain Name - choose a unique website domain to avoid have your website confused with existing websites or existing companies or brands.

Include Keywords if Possible - have the top keywords for your domain to hand when choosing the domain. These keywords can be paired with prefixes and suffixes to create a high quality domain name and enable visitors to instantly identify what your website offers. For example if your business offers computer services in New York then the domain name www.newyorkcomputerservices.com is a great domain name.

.com .com .com – . com is the most widely used domain extension and is (generally) automatically expected by online users. The only time to avoid a .com domain is if your website is restricted to a country and the country extension such as .co.uk (United Kingdom) or .au (Australia) or .ie (Ireland) can be used. Even in such instances it is recommended to register the .com name also so as not to restrict possible future online growth and expansion.

Easy to Spell – ensure your domain is easy to spell to ensure visitors can find your site where they expect to find it.

Easy to Remember – the easier your domain name is to remember the higher the likelihood of visitors returned directly and also promoting your website to others. Sounds obvious but is often ignored!

Easy to Type – how many times have you mistakenly typed www.gooogle.com or www.googe.com instead of www.google.com? Avoid commonly mistyped letters such as “q”, “x” and “c” where possible to ensure visitors can find you as easily as possible.

The Shorter the Better – the shorter the domain name the better it looks and is easier to remember, spell and type.

Exclude Hyphens or Numbers -hyphens and numbers make a domain harder to remember, harder to type and expose a greater risk to visitors getting lost when trying to find your website. On top of this they just look plain ugly!

Consider all elements and then choose the domain name you are most comfortable with based on the domains available.

Understanding How Search Engines Work - All the major search engine operate in a similar manner so to master search engine optimisation it is good to understand how the search engines work and how they determine the order of websites in SERPs.

All the major search engine operate in a similar manner so to master search engine optimisation it is good to understand how the search engines work and how they determine the order of websites in SERPs.  Search engines have a short list of critical operations that allows them to provide relevant web results when searchers use their system to find information;

Crawling the Web
Search engines run automated programs, called “spiders” that use the link structure of the web to crawl the web pages and documents that make up the World Wide Web.

Indexing Documents
Once a page has been crawled, it’s contents can be “indexed” – this means they are stored in a huge database where they can be analysed in a minute fraction of a second.

Processing Queries
When a user enter a search term into a search engine (performed hundreds of millions of times each day), the search engine retrieves all documents from its index that match the search term.

Ranking Results
Once the search engine has determined which results are a match for the search term, the engine’s algorithm (a complex mathematical equation commonly used for sorting) runs calculations on each of the results to determine which is most relevant to the given query. They sort these on the results pages in order from most relevant to least so that users can make a choice about which to select.

Although a search engine’s operations are not particularly lengthy, systems like Google, Yahoo, Bing and MSN are among the most complex, processing-intensive computers in the world, managing millions of calculations each second and funneling demands for information to an enormous group of users.

Blogging is a great method of adding fresh content to your website on a regular basis and gaining the advantage necessary to get ahead of the competition in search engine results. A good blog suggests to the search engines that the website is well maintained, up to date and is being constantly managed. As important as it is for your website to include an effective blog it is also vitally important that the articles published are of a high quality and follow recommended guidelines:

Ask Questions and Provide Answers – visitors are attracted to articles that help them with a specific query or problem.

Provide Ordered How-To Steps – articles that bring readers from the question to the answer in ordered steps are rewarding to visitors.

Supply Simple How-to Details – too many articles tell readers what to do without telling them how to do it. Do not presume visitors have the same knowledge as you.

Use Examples and Quotes – examples are a great way to convince a visitor of your point. Make regular reference to past examples and personal experiences that validate your points. Also provide quotes where applicable from well known experts in the particular field.

Include Relevant Links – direct visitors to other appropriate articles to backup and reinforce your points.

5 Easy Steps to a Better Website -uidelines to ensure this hard earned visit is not in vain and the user will not leave your site quickly.

Getting visitors to your website is the most difficult aspect of website design to achieve. Once you have completed this step follow our guidelines to ensure this hard earned visit is not in vain and the user will not leave your site quickly:

Fix Broken Links and Errors – use an online service to ensure all linked pages are active and error free. Your website should always be free from spelling mistakes, broken links, navigation problems and any other problems that irritate and annoy users. http://www.linkalarm.com/ offers a reporting services where you can schedule an automatic check for broken links while http://validator.w3.org/ offers html and css code validity checks.

Review your Website in all Browsers – different web browsers such as Internet Explorer and FireFox treat web pages differently so what looks good in one browser may not look good in another. Ensure your website looks as you expect it in all the major browsers – http://www.NetMechanic.com/ offers a great tool for previewing your website in all the major Internet browsers in one go.

Include a Contact Web-form – include a web-form on your website where users can contact you easily on-site.

Include your Company Message – always include you company message or slogan beside the company logo. This will ensure visitors are actively aware of the products or services you are offering and not just the company name.

Include a Guarantee and a Privacy Statement – a guarantee and privacy statement will help users feel more secure as it takes away an element of risk and helps establish the credibility of the website. This is particularly important for e-commerce websites.

By following these guidelines you will ensure your visitors know you are a valid and respected website and not one of the many “dodgy” ones found online.

How to Monetize

How to Monetize Your Content Rich Website - make you content rich website work harder for you by monetizing your website.

Do you have a content rich, themed website that attracts a decent amount of traffic on a monthly basis? If so, congratulations because you have already overcome the greatest obstacle in generating a steady flow of income – getting traffic to your website. The next step should be achieved more easily and involves incorporating Google AdSense into your website.

Google AdSense was launched in 2003 as an advertising program to liaise between potential online advertisers and vast number of website owners. AdSense offers online advertisers the opportunity to create text or image ads that are displayed on their search engine results pages and on websites enlisted into the AdSense program. Advertisers pay Google an agreed amount of money each time their ad is clicked. Google pays a percentage of this to the website owner where ads have appeared and keeps the remaining portion of the income. Commissions are only paid when an ad is clicked so the number of times the ad is viewed is irrelevant.

Google Advertiser Options

Google AdSense offers a variety of advertising options to cater for a wide variety of websites:

Google AdSense for Content - a variety of text and / or image ads of a variety of sizes and shaped.

Google AdSense for Search – implements a Google search bar on your website that produces a results page containing pay-per-click ads.

Google AdSense for Feeds – ads that appear in your feeds.

Google AdSense for Domains – ads for a parked domain.

Google AdSense AdSense for Mobile Content – ads for mobile websites.

Google issues payments once an account has exceeded $100 in value. However, to successfully receive payment you must ensure to comply with all Google Webmaster and Google AdSense Terms and Conditions. Be advised that you will not get the better of Google by clicking your own ads or promoting others to do so – while you may get away with this for some time, a more thorough check will be implemented once you have exceeded the $100 withdrawal limit and you will be found out. Read Google Advertiser Guidelines for a complete understanding of the terms and conditions.

Formatting your Google AdSense Ads
Your choice of format and colour for your AdSense advertisement will have a significant impact on the potential earnings. Choose a ad size that will pace the ads prominently on your website without dominating the other content. Similarly blending your ads into the theme and layout of your website is an extremely worthwhile exercise. This is achieved by setting the ad title, text and URL attributes to the same values as other content on your website so as to ensure the site is visually appealing and the content is not dominated by the Google ads.

However you should not try to blend your ads with the intention of misleading the user or try to hide the fact that the ads are in fact ads and a part of the Google AdSense network.

Getting Started
In general it takes as little as 15 minutes before an or search box is implemented from scratch through Google AdSense. To get started all you need is:

A Google AdSense account.

A website with a constant volume of traffic.

Google AdSense is an extremely user friendly and flexible tool so I would recommend experimenting with different ads. Once you stay with the Google guidelines you will come up with a strategy that best suits your websites needs.

5 Other Website Options

Affiliate Marketing – sell someone else’s product for a sales based commission.

eBay Partners Network – provide links on your website to eBay products that you receive a commission on when bought.

Direct Advertising – Define areas on your website where you display ads from non Google sources.

Donations - If your website is purely informational your users may be prepared to donate for helpful information.

Amazon Partner - provide links on your website to Amazon products that you receive a commission on when bought.

Search Engine Spiders & Sitemaps- myadsenseguide to seach engine spiders and sitmaps.

All major search engines including Google use spider programs to crawl through indexed websites, at regular intervals, gathering information about them in order to provide fast, accurate and up to date search engine results. To ensure your site is effectively crawled (and therefore ensuring your website is known to the search engines) you should understand how search engine spiders work spiders, what they expect to find and what will cause problems.

The most important factor when considering search engine spiders is to ensure that the search spiders have plenty of basic links to follow when they crawl your site. Search engine spiders will begin by indexing the text on your homepage and will then attempt to follow all available links to other pages on your website. It is important to realise that various website elements such as frames, dynamic URLs, Flash movies, image based homepages and all hinder the work of spiders and can result in your website not being indexed and therefore not showing up in search engine results pages. If you decide to include these feature nonetheless it is vital that you generate an XML sitemap that will tell a spider where dynamic content can be found and guide the spider through your website. Even if your site does not include such features placing a text link to your sitemap in your homepage footer is strongly recommended. Not only will the sitemap guide the spider through indexing your site it will also provide users with a valuable way of naviagting through your site quickly.

Finally, it’s important to have a robots.txt file present in your root directory as some search spiders will not even crawl your website without finding one first. To ensure your robots.txt is acceptable to Google check the status of the file regularly in Google Webmaster Tools.

10 Ways to get Blacklisted by Google blackhat SEO practises that are guaranteed to get you blacklisted by Google.

Black Hat SEO is the practise of trying to trick the major search engines including Google into believing your site offers a more valuable service to users than it actually does.

Duplicate Content – as Google defines it, duplicate content is having the exact same text on different web pages with in the same web site.

Content Spamming – involves tricking a search engine into thinking a web site has relevant keyword-rich content when it really doesn’t. An example would be to have lots of content that is unreadable to a user.

Image Keyword Stuffing – Google reads the alt attribute associated with all images to understand the purpose of the image. Image keyword stuffing is the practise of stuffing the alt attribute of an image with keywords unrelated to the actual image.

Invisible Keyword Stuffing – including lists of keywords and key phrases that are invisible to a reader but visible to search engine bots.

Doorway Pages – small web pages that contain no value content but link to a legitimate web page. Like many black hat seo techniques doorway pages used to be a valid SEO technique but is now blacklisted owing to exploitation.

Scrapper Sites – sites that are made specifically for generating revenue through ads and are created from article generators. Article generators crawl the Internet taking content from different well ranked sources and merging it all into one source.

Link Farming – link farms are sites that exist solely to link to other web sites. Link farms are a blatant attempt to inflate your link popularity, and search engines take a dim view of them. Do not include your website in a suspected link farm.

Automated Submissions to Google – using software packages such as Web Position Gold to automatically submit your website Many website owners and SEO companies use software packages such as Web Position Gold to automatically submit their websites to multiple search engines. Again, this breaks Google’s terms of service and could led to you being removed.

Violating AdSense – clicking on your own AdSense ads to generate revenue for your own AdSense Account. You will never receive the money and your website will be blacklisted.

Email Spamming – spamming email accounts with regular junk emails.

I would strongly urge you to avoid the temptation to involve your website in any of the above practises. While you may get away with some techniques for period of time Google and all the major search engines will figure out what exactly you are doing and your website will be penalised accordingly. If you are unsure as to what is allowed or what is not acceptable to Google check out

Introduction to Online Selling

If you are serious about selling online then you should strive to know the environment you are operating in. This means you need to address the growing demands of experienced online shoppers who are becoming increasingly demanding when shopping online:

Cheap – everybody expects online goods to be cheaper than traditional stores.

Customised – hard-to-find goods, personalised and unique items sell particularly well online.

Convenient - shoppers search online for goods that can be rare or limited. For example a rare book can be found online in minutes on Amazon but could take several hours to find a traditional bookstore that sells the book.

Compelling - consumers go online to browse exciting, eye catching and unique products. Market your goods with an exciting video on YouTube or a snazzy Facebook page that will compel consumers to part with their money and also publicise your goods to their friends.

Always take a look to find out what products are already out there and then develop ways to make your business stand out from the crowd. Direct your energies towards making your sire a vibrant, energetic and reliable sire that consumers will want to return to.

Google Addwords - Target Misspelled Terms. Increase traffic to your site by targetting misspelled terms and mistyped keywords.

Google Addwords is an example of a commonly misspelled search term entered in to the major search engines.

Commonly misspelled or mistyped words can drive a lot of traffic to your website and it can be a good idea to take advantage of such terms especially for highly competitive terms.

For example the term “Google AdSense” has a Global Monthly Search Volume (exact phrase) of 368,000. In contrast the term “Google Addsense” Global Monthly Search Volume (exact phrase) of 1,300. While the traffic is considerably smaller for “Google Addsense” it should be a lot easier to achieve good ranking for this term.

How to Target Misspelled Terms Like Google Addwords

Put a list together of words you commonly mistype / misspell.

Use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool to gauge the likely traffic from the misspelled term.

Create a webpage specifically targeting the traffic for the misspelled term.

5 Steps to a High Quality Inbound Link.

High quality inbound links are the key to achieving higher search engine rankings and attracting targeted visitors. To ensure you get the most from your inbound links you should ensure that inbound links follow certain criteria and are of the highest quality possible.

So what make a high quality inbound link?

Link From a Reputable Website – ensure all websites linking to your website are reputable. The easiest method of ensure a website is reputable is to check the google page rank of the website and ensure it does not appear in a http://www.spamgoogle.com/ check.

Link Must Not Contain a “No Follow” Attribute – if set to yes, the nofollow attribute tells search engines not to follow a link to its destination. As the link is not being followed by the search engines it is of little use. No Follow Link Example: <a href=”http://www.myadsenseguide.com” rel=”nofollow”>Guide to Adsense</a> Follow Link Example: <a href=”http://www.myadsenseguide.com”>Guideto Adsense</a>

The Link Should Use the Keyword in the Anchor Text – if you are chasing a high ranking for the term “computer repair services” then is it vital that inbound links reference this exact term and not the name of your website. The anchor text is vital for influencing which keywords rank well for your website.

Link From Relevant Sites – links from relevant websites offer greater credibility to your website. A relevant website is one that is connected to the subject of your own website. For example if you run a computer repair website a link from a computer forum would be looked upon favourably. While non relevant links from trusted sources do not harm your ranking, links from relevant sites are looked upon more favourably by search engines.

Internal Page Links – when building links for your website do not focus on links pointing to your homepage only. Build links for important internal pages also to ensure these pages rank well within the search engines and are competing for their own traffic.

By following these guidelines you will build high quality links to your website and in turn start to achieve higher gradings in search engine results pages.

Use other peoples content legally to grow content on your website.

Every writer writes with the specific intention of having their work published and read by as many people as possible. Sounds obvious right! Well why else would they bother writing if not to have it read and appreciated?

Free syndicated articles provide obvious benefit to both content writers and publishers. Free syndicated articles exposes writers content to new mediums and to a much larger audience. For publishers, free syndicated articles provides literally hundreds of thousands of articles that can be added to a website or blog legally and for free.

From experience I have found the following websites to be the best sources of free syndicated articles:

http://www.ezinearticles.com – over 100,000 articles covering a huge range of topics.

http://www.valuablecontent.com – a broad range of topics with hundreds of articles in each.

http://www.articlesbase.com – free online articles and newsletters.

http://www.articlecity.com – your one-stop source for free articles to add to your web site

Ensure you read and follow the terms and conditions applicable before using the content.

Finding free and legal content for your blog or website through public domain works.

Publin Domain works are books, articles, journals, pictures etc where copyright has expired and they have entered the public domain. These works can be published without having to pay a commission to the writer. A great source of public domain ebooks is GutenBerg:

www.gutenberg.org – Project Gutenberg provide over 30,000 free ebooks of work previously published on paper and now digitized by Gutenberg with the help of thousands of volunteers. No fee or registration is required by Gutenberg. A great site for finding legitimate and expert content for your site or blog.

Public domain works are a great source of free and legal content to assist you. Why spend countless hours or pay an outside resource to assist with content writing when there is a huge resource already available for free?

However, be warned, if you are using the content then another blogger or website owner could also be using the identical content so it is best advised to do a thorough search before publishing information retrieved from a public domain work.
