One of my hosts recently changed their in-built website stats program (I have no idea why). So now Some of my sites do not have any stats reporting facilities. Apart from enjoying looking at my stats, they are also a vital tool for analysing and increasing the performance of my website.
Without web stats I would not be able to see which keywords people were using to get to my site (very, very important) or find out if my advertising methods were drawing any traffic (also important and one of my main motivation factors).
I needed a free stats reporting facility that was invisible and could provide me with in-depth data. Even though I have a Google Analytics account, I didn’t want to use them on some of my sites because I don’t like the idea of them monitoring my activity.
Due to this, I opted for StatCounter. It’s free and all you need to do is copy and paste some code to your site. The only limitation is that it only logs 100 visitors but you can reset the counter which is perfect for a mini-site.
If you need a in-depth website stats reporting then I recommend StatCounter for small sites.
