Entries for the ‘Google Adwords’ Category

There’s actually a quick and easy way to get your new blog / websites indexed into search engines with high PR backlinks which will generate you an abundance of free web traffic.
I’m not talking about “social bookmarking” or “Tag and Ping” (although they are also effective). This method is simple and if you’re not already doing it, you should be.

Writing articles is a free method of generating hundreds of backlinks to your site which will get your new site indexed into all search engines super-fast. All you need to do is write a good quality article and then put a link to your site in the author’s resource box.

After you submit your articles to article directories, publishers will begin picking up your article and start publishing them on their site (with your link). Their visitors will see your link and go to your site. You’ll get a ton of free traffic and make some money in the process (adsense and affiliate products?).

I’ve been writing and submitting articles for new sites and the results have been great. My sites get indexed quickly and I get some good traffic which allows to dominate low competition niches :)

Here are my tips for article writing:

  1. Write quality content related to your site
  2. Make sure your article has a good headline and include keyword in headline
  3. Include 2 links to your site in the author’s resource box
  4. The first link should be linked with anchor text that you are trying to rank for in search engines. For example, You have a flower arranging site, so you’re first anchor link text should be “flower arranging” because this is what people will type into search engines to find your site.
  5. Your second link should be your website address. The reason for this is because anchor text variation is good for SEO as it makes your links look more natural.

Your author’s resource box could look something like:

“To learn more about Flower Arranging (link this text), visit John Smiths site: http://www.FlowerArrangingTips.com “

The only disadvantage of submitting articles is that after you’ve written them, you have to go to article directories and submit them all individually. Some people would rather avoid this monotonous task (me too).

The way I submit articles is by using an article distribution service. Article Marketer is an article distribution service that will distribute your articles automatically to over 42,087 people in 528 article announcement directories and forums. All I do is write and submit my article once!

All major search engines including Google use spider programs to crawl through indexed websites, at regular intervals, gathering information about them in order to provide fast, accurate and up to date search engine results. To ensure your site is effectively crawled (and therefore ensuring your website is known to the search engines) you should understand how search engine spiders work spiders, what they expect to find and what will cause problems.

The most important factor when considering search engine spiders is to ensure that the search spiders have plenty of basic links to follow when they crawl your site.  Search engine spiders will begin by indexing the text on your homepage and will then attempt to follow all available links to other pages on your website. It is important to realise that various website elements such as frames, dynamic URLs, Flash movies, image based homepages and all hinder the work of spiders and can result in your website not being indexed and therefore not showing up in search engine results pages.  If you decide to include these feature nonetheless it is vital that you generate an XML sitemap that will tell a spider where dynamic content can be found and guide the spider through your website. Even if your site does not include such features placing a text link to your sitemap in your homepage footer is strongly recommended. Not only will the sitemap guide the spider through indexing your site it will also provide users with a valuable way of naviagting through your site quickly.

Finally, it’s important to have a robots.txt file present in your root directory as some search spiders will not even crawl your website without finding one first. To ensure your robots.txt is acceptable to Google check the status of the file regularly in Google Webmaster Tools.

Google Addwords - Target Misspelled Terms

Google Addwords is an example of a commonly misspelled search term entered in to the major search engines.

Commonly misspelled or mistyped words can drive a lot of traffic to your website and it can be a good idea to take advantage of such terms especially for highly competitive terms.

For example the term “Google AdSense” has a Global Monthly Search Volume (exact phrase) of 368,000.  In contrast the term “Google Addsense” Global Monthly Search Volume (exact phrase) of 1,300. While the traffic is considerably smaller for “Google Addsense” it should be a lot easier to achieve good ranking for this term.

How to Target Misspelled Terms Like Google Addwords

  1. Put a list together of words you commonly mistype / misspell.
  2. Use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool to gauge the likely traffic from the misspelled term.
  3. Create a webpage specifically targeting the traffic for the misspelled term.
