If you’re selling products using adwords, you may want to think about the geo-tagetting part of your campaign. Choosing which countries you want to advertise your products to is very important.
In most cases, do not just select “all countries worldwide”. You don’t want to advertise a product to Malaysia that is not available to them….or maybe you do….but you’ll just waste your money when they click your ads.
So which countries should you target?
Well, that depends on the availability of your product. I.E. If you’re promoting a DVD rental service that only delivers to the UK then it’s pretty obvious that you should only target UK.
If you are promoting an info product and you’re not sure which countries to target. Type the name of the niche into Google Trends and then click the “regions” tab. It should bring up a list of countries that search for your niche most often.
Another way I use google trends is to compare search volume in niches. Let’s say I have a 2 niche ideas and want to find which one I should focus on. One of the things I’d do is compare search volume using Google Trends. To do this, just type in the search box - “[niche topic1] , [niche topic2]”.
So if I wanted to do cricket vs football, i’d type “cricket, football”. Or if I wanted to do cricket vs football vs tennis, i’d just type “cricket, football, tennis” and google trends should pull up a nice little graph.
